Following collision with a truck, a section of the pedestrian bridge in the Alapere Estate, Ketu area of Lagos, collapsed on Thursday night.
Two persons are reportedly injured from the incident that happened around midnight.
Confirming the incident, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), said the truck, overloaded with metal and exceeding the height restriction, became stuck under the bridge, causing its collapse.
Debris from the accident resulted in heavy traffic congestion on the Ketu-Alapere axis towards Berger. Emergency responders were promptly deployed to clear the debris and restore traffic flow.
A video shared by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Jubril Gawat, showed officials working to clear the scene.
The video also shows Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Special Adviser on Transportation, Sola Giwa, on the ground at the incident, working with emergency responders to keep traffic moving.
