Moses Olapade, a 56-year old ex- boxer, have been arrested in Ondo State for allegedly beating his wife, Tinuke, into a coma for refusing to hand over their television remote to him.
According to LIB, the incident occurred at their residence, No. 9, Odama street in Oke-Aro Community in Akure.
It was gathered that Olopade, a truck driver who plies the Northern part of the country, returned home from a journey on that fateful day and wanted to watch a programme.
He was said to have asked his 44-year-old wife to hand over the TV remote to him but she refused, out of anger, he rained punches on the wife until she fell and became unconscious.
According to reports, the children ran out screaming for help and that drew the attention of some of their neighbors who came in to placate the situation but by the time they got into the house, they found the woman lying unconscious on the floor. She was quickly rushed to the nearest hospital.
The matter was reported to the leaders of the community, who called the police and the retired boxer was arrested.
